Connecting your Snapchat™️ pixel to Seeka is easy and can be done in about a minute on our side, but occasionally can take a little longer due to Snapchat™️.
This will allow browser and server events to be sent to Snapchat™️, and all it requires is a "Pixel ID" and an "Events API token", which you'll find in Snapchat™️ Events Manager.
🚨 IMPORTANT🚨
Before we begin, please ensure that the Snapchat™️ pixel is not already installed on your site. Learn how to check that here
Connecting your SnapChat™️ Pixel to Seeka
Open the Seeka App and navigate to Destinations
Ensure you're in the correct Organisation and Brand then click the Connect Destination button and select Snapchat™️.
Leave this browser window open and open a new tab or window.
Select Pixel in SnapChat™️
In a new open tab, log in to your SnapChat Business manager account.
Click the menu in the top left corner and select ‘Events Manager’.
If using existing pixel
Identify the pixel you want to connect to Seeka and copy the Pixel ID
Copy the Pixel ID and Paste it into the Pixel ID field in Seeka.
If creating a new pixel
From Events Manager hit the ‘New Event Source’ button
Select ‘Web’
Select ‘Pixel Code’
Hit the ‘Create New Pixel’ button
Copy the Pixel ID and Paste it into the Pixel ID field in Seeka.
The pixel ID is a series of numbers and letters.
Example: ID: 8e1786fa-6233-4d59-8d40-50de6e1d142c
Generate Access Token
Please note that you must be an Organization Admin to complete this step.
Head back to your Business manager account.
Click the menu in the top left corner and select ‘Business details’.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Generate token" next to the "Conversions API Tokens" heading.
Copy the token by hovering over the row and clicking the "copy" button.
Paste your Token in the Access Token field in the Seeka app.
🚨 IMPORTANT🚨
At the time of writing this article there appears to be a bug with Snapchat™️ that requires around 24 hours for this token to be valid. This is not a Seeka issue, and we expect this to be resolved eventually.
If you receive an error from Seeka regarding this token, simply try in 24 hours.
Hopefully Snapchat™️ have fixed this issue, and you're all connected
If not, we find a brief moment of silently yelling at your screen and shaking your fist like an angry boomer makes you feel mildly better.
How to check if your pixel is already installed on your site independent of Seeka 🧐
There is ZERO benefit to having a pixel installed via another method while using Seeka.
If the same pixel that Seeka is sending data to as a 'destination' is also installed independently of Seeka, the following conflicts will most likely occur:
The double firing of events
Platform errors
A decline in campaign performance
A decline in event match quality
Incorrect attribution
The easiest way to check is to Download the Snapchat™️ Chrome pixel helper extension HERE. The installation will allow you to view the pixel and events of any Snapchat™️ Pixel if set up on any website.
Checking for a pixel before setting up Seeka
When using the SnapChat™️ pixel helper tool to check for an installed pixel, you will see your pixel listed as per the example below, if it is installed on your site.
